Boise, ID (Boise) - Protector 2 (September 29th-October 1st, 2023)

Protector 2

Please note that you must have attended a Protector 1 (formerly Sheepdog Level 1) to be eligible for Protector 2.

Once you have successfully become a protector the next step is to take your shooting and combatives skills to “11” with the Protector 2 course.

Building on the fundamentals of marksmanship and ground fighting skills from Protector 1, in Protector 2 we advance to truly dynamic self-defense. A real-world situational awareness exercise, shooting on the move, retention shooting from a close distance, striking an opponent, and take-downs against a wall are just a taste of the drills we will work on in this advanced training module. The excitement continues as we advance to single-handed shooting skills, including loading, reloading, and correcting malfunctions all with one hand disabled.  The Protector 2 curriculum is fast-paced, fun, and informative.

About Protector 2

Our top-tier instructors have once again brought their real-world military and law enforcement experience to this advanced curriculum, which is the next logical evolution to your skill set in a challenging three-day course.

You will learn advanced defensive tactics and weapons skills that will not only solidify the lessons learned from Protector 1, but push you to your limits and beyond.

What You’ll Learn

Day 1

Gym: Your morning starts with a review of Protector 1 grappling and a skills assessment. We then introduce effective striking, closing the distance with your opponent, pummeling, and fighting at varied ranges.

Classroom: You will learn in-depth situation awareness including site surveys, travel preparation, and surveillance detection. Then we’ll take to the streets where you will put your skills to use to determine if you can identify a threat and take the appropriate action.

Day 2

Gym: You will learn basic strikes, striking variables, as well as striking defense. We will test your fitness in a striking gauntlet and learn how to use striking to set up the clinch, as well as driving to and fighting off a wall.

Range:
We start with a review of Protector 1 pistol fundamentals. We add pressure and time constraints to test your abilities to perform basic marksmanship and pistol manipulation skills on-demand. We will cover techniques to increase your draw speed, and decrease the time is takes to get that critical first shot on target accurately. We pressure test your skills with drills that will safely allow you to see just how fast and accurate you can be.

Day 3

Gym: We continue to advance your skills in combatives with a realistic wall fight, including weapon retention against a dedicated opponent. We will cover the techniques to get an opponent from standing to the ground using everything you have at your disposal. Test yourself against a live opponent that can strike, grapple, and is possibly armed. Get valuable feedback and learn effective techniques to win.

Range: We engage targets from non-traditional shooting positions including fighting from the ground, kneeling, and during the transition. You will push your skills to engage threats from behind cover, moving forward, moving laterally, and under stress. You’ll develop the skills to shoot single-handedly including reloading and correcting malfunctions with one hand disabled.

Don’t own a firearm? Shooting packages are available that include: firearm, holster, magazines, and magazine holders. Supplies are limited so reserve yours early by emailing info@sheepdogresponse.com.
